How Feld Entertainment ensures proactive safety and operational excellence on a global scale

Challenge
Feld Entertainment is one of the world's foremost producers of live touring events, bringing iconic productions — from Monster Jam and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus — to audiences across the globe. Managing these spectacles requires coordinating hundreds of performers, crew members, contractors, and event staff who speak dozens of languages and span multiple countries.
With productions recruiting talent from places like Ethiopia, Eastern Europe, Mongolia, Brazil, Argentina, and beyond, reliable, real-time communication isn't just a logistics challenge — it's a matter of safety.
Bridging language barriers and fragmented communication across global touring staff
When an emergency occurs during a live event, every second counts. Feld's touring roster includes performers and staff who speak varying levels of English, some of whom travel with translators. In a high-pressure moment, immediate understanding can really make a difference.
Compounding the challenge: many international touring staff use local SIM cards or WhatsApp to avoid roaming costs, making standard communication tools unreliable or inaccessible. The operations team needed a solution that could reach everyone — instantly, in their own language, regardless of device or connectivity.
Approach
Purpose-built communication infrastructure for complex live operations
Feld deployed Konexus to address both the language barrier and the operational communication gap across its entire touring ecosystem. The platform's core capabilities were a natural fit — and in several cases, Konexus built features specifically to meet Feld's needs.
- Pre-scheduled alerts. Operational communications like registration reminders can be queued in advance, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks during high-pressure event windows.
- Real-time translation. Messages automatically delivered in each recipient's native language based on their phone's language settings — across 200+ languages.
- Subgroup targeting. Distinct communication groups — mechanics, security, PR, drivers, and more — allow precise, timely alerts to reach exactly the right people without noise.
- Operational checklists. Built-in checklists help leadership and admins track and verify operational tasks in real time throughout the event lifecycle.
- Microsoft Teams integration. Built specifically for Feld, this integration enables staff using international phones — who rely on Teams to avoid roaming charges — to stay fully connected.
- Offline resource library. Venue maps, emergency procedures, and event schedules are accessible on-device without an active data connection — eliminating the need for paper handouts.
- Admin-scoped visibility. Ensures that administrators can only view and manage recipients, data, and resources belonging to their assigned groups, preventing cross-group data exposure and enforcing organizational boundaries.
Solution
Putting Konexus to the test: Monster Jam World Finals
Feld’s most ambitious challenge to date is preparation for, execution during, and assessment after the Monster Jam World Finals — a flagship event involving approximately 500 personnel, including both full-time Feld employees and contracted staff such as drivers and mechanics who are actively competing at the event.

"Operationally communicating with all these people timely and effectively is a challenge. We made a presentation to our executive team of the various capabilities Konexus could provide in this context and they approved full platform usage.”

Why Konexus
Zero errors, zero delays, zero missed alerts
Feld's goals for the Monster Jam World Finals center on streamlining communication operations and improving timeliness and effectiveness of communication at such a large-scale event.
- Messages reach the right people at the right time. No one is inadvertently left out of a critical communication due to group mismanagement.
- Ad hoc alerts can be dispatched instantly to targeted subgroups for time-sensitive incidents — from vehicle breakdowns to performer medical emergencies like dehydration.
- All 500 personnel operate with the same information, accessible on their phone without paper, without data dependency, and without language barriers.
